Packers and movers charges in Kolkata: real 2026 price list

For a local move inside Kolkata, a 1 BHK household usually lands between ₹6,000 and ₹14,000, a 2 BHK between ₹10,000 and ₹22,000, and a 3 BHK between ₹16,000 and ₹35,000. The spread is wide because the number that matters is not the number of bedrooms — it is the volume of goods, the floor you live on, whether a lift is working, and how far the truck can park from your door.

For intercity shifting the arithmetic changes. Kolkata to Bhubaneswar or Ranchi is generally ₹18,000 to ₹40,000 for a 2 BHK, while Kolkata to Bengaluru, Pune or Hyderabad for the same load sits between ₹32,000 and ₹65,000, because the vehicle is on the road for four to seven days and the crew travels with it.

Anyone who quotes you a flat ₹1,499 or ₹2,999 over the phone without asking what you own is quoting for the booking, not for the move. The real bill arrives on loading day, when the crew discovers the double-door fridge and the seven-foot wardrobe.

Packing material is the first: five-ply cartons, bubble wrap, stretch film, corrugated rolls for furniture edges, and wooden crating for marble, glass or aquariums. On a 2 BHK this is typically ₹2,500 to ₹6,000 and it is the single easiest line for a cheap mover to quietly downgrade to reused cartons.

Labour is the second — usually three to six people for a day, priced by headcount and by floor. If your building's lift does not take a wardrobe, staircase carriage is charged per floor, so tell your mover the floor number before they quote, not after.

Transport is third and is driven by vehicle size and distance. Loading and unloading labour at the destination is fourth; it is separate from the origin crew on intercity moves. Transit insurance is fifth, normally 1.5% to 3% of the declared value of your goods.

GST is 18% on the full relocation service when packing is included, and 5% where only transportation is billed. A quote that does not mention GST at all is a quote you will argue about later.

Move mid-month and mid-week. The last three and first three days of a month are when every crew in Kolkata is booked, and prices follow demand. Declutter before the survey, not after — you pay to move volume, so a single afternoon of sorting can knock a vehicle size off your quote.

Pack your own books, clothes and linen if you have the time, and let the crew handle only fragile, electronic and furniture items. Combine a car or bike with your household load on the same booking; a combined rate is almost always cheaper than two separate jobs.
